Blepharitis - the home cure
|

|
Blepharitis makes the eyelids
uncomfortable, crusty, itchy and red. It is one of those annoying
conditions in that the longer you have it, the more difficult
it is to shake off. Nobody really knows what causes it, it is
not sight-threatening but can be a real nuisance. Fortunately
it is also quite easy for you to treat yourself.
Treating Blepharitis
- First prepare a solution of 'No Tears' Baby Shampoo - one
teaspoon of shampoo to a cup of boiled water that has cooled; you can
use this solution for a week, after which you should discard it and
prepare a fresh one.
- Next take a clean flannel and soak it in water that is hot, althought
not too hot for your hands (or eyelids -don't burn yourself!!).
Apply this as a hot compress to your lids, for a few minutes night and
morning. This will loosen up the crustiness.
- Now dip a cotton bud in the shampoo solution and rub across your
lid, near the lashes to remove the loosened crustiness. Use a fresh
bud for each eye.
Should the blepharitis not improve aftre a week you should seek professional
advice from your doctor or optometrist.
Eye Makeup and Blepharitis
