Childrens' eye care is a priority at our practice - and, yes they
do enjoy their visits (despite the tongues!) The following
qualify for a Sight Test paid for by the NHS - do you?
- All children under 16, those under 19 in full-time education
and the over 60s.
- People receiving Family Credit, Income Support or Disability
Working Allowance (benefit capital must be £8,000 or less when
it was claimed).
- Those on low income who have been assessed by the Department
of Social Security as having no contribution to pay.
- People who need complex lenses.
- Registered blind or partially sighted.
- People suffering from diabetes or glaucoma.
- Those aged 40 and over who are parents, brothers, sisters or
children of diagnosed glaucoma sufferers.
- If you are considered to be at risk of developing glaucoma.
- If you are named on a NHS Low Income Scheme certificate HC2
or HC3
If you are claiming help with the cost of optical services the government
now requires you to give proof that you qualify . You can find out
what proof is needed by getting form HC81(Op) from:

Important: New NHS regulations state that those "...found
to have wrongly claimed help from the NHS with the cost of optical
services will face Penalty Charges and in some cases prosecution."
